Level 2: Temple of the Cat
Turn around and throw the switch to open the trapdoor. Drop into the room below and pick up the two sets of Magnum Clips - one from the alcove and one from the low ledge (notice the gold door here). Continue to the next room and climb into either opening on the right. Drop into the room and use the switch to open the three gates. The mummy awakens when you pick up the two Small Medi Packs, so start with the left one (as you face them). When you pick up the right hand Medi Pack, run and jump into the opposite opening. Kill the mummy from there. 1st Secret - Use the switch again to bring it back to its up position. This will open the gold door where you got the Clips before. There is a mummy beyond the door, but it cannot come out. Kill it from the doorway and drop into the cage. Go up the steps and turn around when you reach the four sets of Magnum Clips. Two panthers will attack, so take care of them and pick up the Clips. Then exit the cage. For the least damage, as soon as you reach the step with the Clips, turn around and run down the steps, jumping over the panthers. When you reach the last step, jump to land into the doorway you came from. Kill the panthers from there and if they leave, hang from the edge to lure them bak. Area around the pyramid - Go up the ramp, which gets you to a sandy area. Climb on the ledge above and follow the path to the right. Before turning around the corner, jump into the pit on the right and pick up the two sets of Shotgun Shells. Jump back and proceed along the path. As you approach the pyramid, two mummies will attack. Climb on the block on the left (as shown here) and kill them from there. From this block, Lara looks the south side of the area. First, pick up the Shotgun Shells from the low block beyond. Now approach the south side, but do not proceed a lot. Notice the boulders at the top of the rocks. They start rolling when you pass in front of their path. First, go to the left (west), close to the sandy hill and approach the two Shotgun Shells. Do not stop until you reach them, so as to avoid the rolling boulder (see here to get oriented). When you pick up each set of Shells, a boulder will roll from above. Pick them up facing west and immediately back-flip to avoid the boulders. There are more Shells in the southeast corner and three remaining boulders. Run straight to the east side and do not stop. A boulder from the left will roll but will not catch you. Pick up the Shells and do not jump to the slide next to them or you will trigger the boulder above. Now return back close to the pyramid and make sure you do not stop as you pass in front of the path of the last boulder. Go to the right hand side of the pyramid (facing north) and pull the movable block away to reaveal some Shotgun Shells. Follow the path that the footprints "show" you to reach a pool. Jump into and pull the underwater lever to open the door on the other side of the pool and release a crocodile. Since the door is on a timer, climb out of the water and kill the crocodile. Then pull the lever again and quickly swim through the door. Get the Ornate Key #1 from the bottom of the pool (this makes the door open again) and swim back outside. Make your way back close to the pyramid. Climbing up the pyramid - Climb on the first tier of the pyramid and kill the panther that attacks when you move close to the movable block. A second panther will join on the third tier, close to the two movable blocks. When they are dead, pull the first block (by facing east) and push it to the side (north). Then pull the second block to reveal an opening (see this screenshot to get oriented). Hang from the edge and drop down to slide into the room below. Pick up the Large Medi Pack and use the switch to open the nearby door; go through it. The next room contains the Ornate Key #2. Get it and go up the steps. When you reach the top, do not climb into the opening. Instead, climb on the ledge to the left. Pick up the Shotgun Shells and drop to the ground. Climb up the pyramid until you reach the seventh (topmost) tier. Pick up the Shotgun Shells and the Small Medi Pack. If you jump on the pedestal with the cat statue, the camera will pan back (nothing interesting). Start climbing down the pyramid in the northwest corner to reach the tier above the pool. Use the two Ornate Keys to open the door. Go through it. Inside the pyramid - The area here is pretty dark and there is a switch that turns on the light. On using it though, you close a door which leads to the 2nd Secret. So, you may want to get the Secret before using the switch. 2nd Secret - Proceed into the passage. On the T-junction, the left way leads to the switch that turns on the light. Do not use it and go to the right. Turn around the corner and draw weapons. When you reach the next corner, a panther will attack from the left. Back up and kill it. Continue along the passage to a lighted area with a Large Medi Pack, which is the Secret. You can either go back and turn on the lights or proceed to the next lighted room, which is just beyond. Before entering this room, follow the other way of the junction to find a switch that opens the trapdoor inside the room. Once you use it, drop through the trapdoor. There are four openings in the floor here and more in the two passages, which lead to two switches. A panther is lurking on a ledge beneath the openings and if you want to kill it from above, use the large opening close to the left switch. Use the two switches to open a double door in the water exactly below you. It is on a slow timer, so you will not have a problem. If you do not make it on time, climb on the ledge above (use the side close to the wall) and then climb into either opening. When you pass through the double door, swim upwards and surface. Climb out of the water and pick up the Ornate Key #1 (the first of the five you need in order to open a door). Kill the two crocodiles from here and if they leave, hang from the ledge where you got the Key in order to lure them back. Get the two Small Medi Packs from the alcoves alongside the cat statue. If you step on the square with the cat statue (with your weapons holstered), you will get a glimpse of a running cat motive, which is in the next room. Jump into the water and swim to the other side. Get the two sets of Magnum Clips from the alcove at the end and climb out of the water. Room with ledges and running cat motives - Go around the first ledge and pick up the Ornate Key #2. A panther will appear on the second ledge, so kill it from here. Climb on the second ledge and push the movable block to reveal some Magnum Clips. Climb on the third ledge and pick up the Ornate Key #3 from the southeast corner. A panther will attack, so quickly climb on the fourth ledge and kill it from safety. Now move around and climb on the west side of the third ledge, which is close to the barred window. Get the Ornate Keys #4 and #5 from the blocks. Every time you climb on a block, a panther attacks on the topmost ledge. Kill both from here, then climb on the topmost ledge on the south side and use the five Keys. This will open the door in the southwest corner (to the left of the keyholes, as you face them). Enter the room with the gold blocks on the right hand side. The bottom opening leads to a closed door that you will open now. Approach the opening and carefully drop onto the block below, then onto the ledge. Take a standing jump to each alcove and pick up the Shotgun Shells and Small Medi Pack. From where you got the Medi Pack, take a diagonal standing jump to grab the crevice on the left. Shimmy to the left and pull up to slide in a passage. Halfway through it, you will find an alcove with a switch. Use it to open the door between the gold blocks. Drop into the passage and climb on the ledge to the left of the switch (as you face it). Take a standing jump to the ledge on the right (or slide down and jump to the alcove you got the Shells before, then jump to the ledge). Climb on the block and then into the room above. Underwater area - Enter the next room, which contains more gold blocks. Again, the bottom opening ahead leads to a closed door that you will open now. Facing south, jump into the water and swim through the opening ahead (there is another opening on the left, but do not go there because it does not lead anywhere). Get the Uzi Clips from the bottom of this room and if you want, surface above. A crocodile will soon come, so swim back from where you came and climb out of the water. It is difficult to kill the crocodile, because it leaves and does not stay close to the opening. If you want all the kills, draw weapons and shoot when Lara aims at the crocodile. Do not let go of Action, so you will lock the target. Now jump above the opening to lure the crocodile and Lara will shoot it every time it passes in front of her range. Jump into the water and swim through the same opening (south) to reach the room where you got the Clips. Swim through the opening in the southeast corner. Here you have the option of going left or right. First, go to the left to get some Uzi Clips, but do not proceed farther (the opening does not lead anywhere). Instead, turn around and go back. Pass the opening you came from (which is on your right) and swim ahead and around the corner. Pull the underwater lever to open the door in the room above. Swim back around the corner, then through the opening on the left. Surface if you need it and swim through the other opening and then upwards. Climb out of the water. Enter the next room and step on the tiles with the pharaoh faces. This will open the door to the next room, from where two mummies will attack. Equip a powerful weapon and take them out. Alternatively, once the door opens, go back and through the opening you came from. Climb on either ledge and kill the mummies from there. Anter the next room and throw the two switches on the other side. The left one opens a door back in the room with the ledges and running cat motives and the right hand switch makes the boulder roll in order to unblock the opening on the left (west side). Go to that opening and take a running jump with Action to the alcove with the Small Medi Pack. This will alert a crocodile, so kill it from here. Drop down, go to the other side and pick up the Shotgun Shells and Magnum Clips. Climb into the opening and then on the ledge ahead. Follow the tunnel and drop into the pool, back to the room with the ledges and running cat motives. Back to the room with the ledges and running cat motives - The door you opened is in the northwest corner. Start climbing up the ledges until you reach the topmost one. Then go through the opening. Room with ramp and alcoves with mummies - Vault onto the low block ahead and pick up the Uzi Clips (or a pair of Uzis if you do not have them). The mummies do not awaken now, so freely get the Small Medi Pack and four sets of Uzi Clips. Go down the ramp to a sandy area. Take the left path and quickly climb on the sandy block on the left, then on the stone block (as shown here). A mummy comes down the ramp, so kill it from here. If you want, you can jump to the nearby sloped hill, so you can have a better range. The next two mummies awaken when you step on the square with the Large Medi Pack in the far left corner. You can stay there and explode them or use the sloped hill. The next two mummies awaken when you reach the Uzi Clips. Quickly get them and use one of the above methods to get rid of them. The sixth mummy awakens when you reach the switch and the seventh when you flip it. This also opens the door at the top of the ramp. Lighted room with stairs - Go through the door you just opened, then through the other opening. The last mummy awakens when you reach almost the top of the stairs. Be alerted and take care of it. Be careful because this is a long drop down and do not slide neither slope, because the floor down there is harmful. Go to the top of the steps and approach the right hand corner. Notice the block below. Run off the corner to land on it or tap back once and take a standing jump. Then drop to the ledge on the right. Take a standing jump across the gap to land on the ledge on the other side. Jump to the ledge on the left, then to the block with the Uzi Clips. Get them and jump up to grab the crevice. Shimmy to the left and pull up. Climb on the ledge in front of the cat statue. When you pass through the opening, the camera pans back and shows that a bridge has been created, which connects this ledge with the steps. Enter the room behind the cat statue and use the switch to open a door in the room at the bottom of the steps. 3rd Secret - Exit, but do not cross the bridge. Instead, drop on the ledge on your right (from where you came), hang from the edge and shimmy across the crevice. Drop on the block where you got the Clips before. Hang from the either left or right edge and drop down. Lara will lose some health, so make sure you have some of it. Enter the room behind and pick up the Uzi Clips and Large Medi Pack. Go up the ramp and when you see the first boulder rolling, drop through the opening on the left. Go up the ramp again and hide into the alcove halfway through in order to avoid the second boulder. Then exit through the opening at the top of the ramp. Kill the panther that appears from the left hand ledge and go up the steps. Cross the ledge to the end and get the Small Medi Pack and Shotgun Shells from the alcoves. Go to the other side of the hallway and through the first opening. This gets you to the bottom of the steps. Climb on them, kill the panther* and head to the door you opened before (on the right as you return back - in the room you came from). (*Note: This panther may not appear here, but in the next area as described below.) Area with greenery and palm trees - Enter the room with the greenery and two palm trees. Follow the passage in the back right corner until you reach the next area. Kill the crocodile that comes from ahead and pick up the Small Medi Pack from the right. Enter the next room with the pool. When you approach the Large Medi Pack on the left, a second crocodile appears. Kill it and also kill the crocodile in the pool. Jump into the water and pull the lever to open the two ceiling trapdoors in the first room and alert a panther. Be careful as you climb out of the water, because the panther may have already reached the place. Take care of it and return back. Climb through either trapdoor and go around the room until you reach a gold trapdoor. Vault onto the block with the faraoh face and the trapdoor will open. Drop through it and pick up the Small Medi Pack and Shotgun Shells. The door on the other side opens as you approach. Hallway with three doors and six switches - Here you will find three closed doors. Each one opens with the two switches alongside it. Before using them, let's go for the level's final Secret. 4th Secret/ Rooms with pushable blocks - On stepping in front of the middle door, a door at the end of the hallway opens. It is on a timer, but the countdown does not start as long as you stay on the square. Run and jump in order to reach the door before it closes. When you enter the small square room, you will find a movable block in front of you. Push it once, go to the left side of it and while facing east, push it once more. This reveals a switch behind it, which opens the door you just came from. It closes when you step on the square in front it and there is time only to pass through it. There is a second block next to the one you moved. Pull it once and then push it into the doorway in order to reveal another room behind. By pushing the second block in the doorway, you block your way out, so re-arrange the first two blocks in order to unblock the exit. So, pull the first block by facing east and go to the back-side of it. Push it into the corner (to the left of the switch). Now pull the second block out of the doorway and push it in the corner next to the first block. Enter the next room which contains the third movable block. Facing south, pull it once. Go to the right side of it and push it once (push it facing west). This reveals a fourth block behind. Pull it three times, go to the back-side of it and while facing north, push it once in the corner. You just revealed another room with the fifth block indise. Before dealing with it, re-arrange the third block. While facing west, pull it once. Go behind it and push it once (by facing east). Enter the next room. Facing west, pull the fifth block once. Now pull it outside the room. When you pass it through the opening, go to the left and push it in the corner in order to position it next to the third block. Enter the next room again and pull the last block twice. This reveals the secret room behind. Enter and pick up the Small and Large Medi Packs and the Uzi and Magnum Clips. Return back, use the switch to open the door and exit. Back to the hallway with three doors and six switches - The middle door leads to a trap. There are only two mummies to kill inside, but this will not change your final statistics if you decide not to enter. Later on, you will have to deal with two mummies that do not appear if you go through that door. So, enter if you want to see everything. Middle door - Use the two switches to open the door and enter. On reaching the last step, the stairs become a slope and you slide onto the harmful floor. To avoid that, reach the second from the top step and turn around. Position Lara in the front right corner of the step (as shown here - or front left) and jump back. The stairs now become a slope and the two mummies awaken, so press Jump and right (or left) to land on the ledge with the mummy. Try to enter and stay in the alcove, so that the mummy will not push you down. Kill the mummy and then kill the other one opposite. Once you are done, take a running jump to the doorway and exit. Left and right doors - It does not matter which one you follow, since both lead to the same room. By following the left hand door, you can avoid one mummy. If you go through the left hand door, proceed ahead and climb into the room with the cat sphinx. Go forwards and when you reach the back of the room, climb on one of the blocks. A mummy will attack, so kill it from safety. If you wait for a bit, a second mummy will come. If you want all the kills, enter the opening in the northwest corner, which would have been your entrance if you had followed the right hand door. A mummy will drop from the ceiling, so kill it. If you go through the right hand door, a mummy will drop from the ceiling. After dealing with it, enter the room with the cat sphinx and quickly climb on one of the blocks. A second mummy will come, so kill it from here. Then go to the back of the room and again climb on one of the blocks, because a third mummy will attack. Go up the steps at the back of the sphinx. Push the movable block and pick up the Small Medi Pack. Climb on the ledge with the cat figure and turn to face the way you came. Jump up to grab the ledge and pull up. Turn around and take a running jump to the opening ahead. Take another running jump to grab the blue balcony and pull up. If you entered the trap room before, you should not see bars in front of you. Drop down there and skip the next paragraph. (The two mummies as described below, do not appear.) If you did not enter the trap room, the bars should be here, blocking your way. You can either go to the left around the blue balcony or turn right and take a running jump to the part of the balcony beyond the pillar. In both cases, you will have to kill two mummies. Stay on the blue balcony where they cannot reach you and get rid of them from there. If you want to avoid them, take the running jump beyond the pillar, turn around and jump to the opening on the right (as shown in this screenshot). Do not exit to the balcony and the mummies will not appear. Now enter the room with the low ledges. Climb up the low ledges and drop into the next room. Pick up the Uzi Clips from the pit and climb out. Climb on the next ledge, then into the opening at the top. Kill the panther that is lurking in the sphinx's mouth and take a running jump to the pillar ahead. (Note: if you entered the trap room before, the sphinx's mouth should be extended by now.) Jump to the next walkway and cross it to the end. Jump into the alcove on the right, then on the pillar with the Small Medi Pack. Get it and take a running jump to the next walkway. At the end, take another running jump to grab the pillar. Pull up, then jump up to grab the ledge above and pull up. Draw weapons and shoot the mummy that comes from around the ledges. If it approaches, drop down to the pillar you came from. The mummy will leave, so pull up again and finish it off. Go to the side the mummy came from and climb on the pillar. From there jump to the flat ledge beneath the sphinx's left eye. A mummy is waiting at the top, so stay sharp. Climb on the top of the head, shoot the mummy and if it becomes nasty, drop back down to the ledge. Be careful however and do not let the mummy approach a lot, or it will push you down. Once it is dead, go to the back side of the head and use the switch to extend the tonge of the sphinx. (Note: if you entered the trap room before, the tongue should be extended by now and nothing will happen by using the switch.) Go back to the top of the head and slide down backwards the nose. Grab the edge and drop on the tongue. Enter the sphinx's head and jump the gap. Use the switch to open the door on the other side. Jump back the gap and go through the door to end the level.
